Cancellation of lecture by H.E. Mr. Salva Kiir
The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed United Nations University earlier today (5 February 2010) that the visit to Japan by H.E. Mr. Salva Kiir Mayardit, First Vice President of Sudan and President of the Government of Southern Sudan (GOSS), has been postponed until further notice.
The lecture by H.E. Mr. Salva Kiir, which was originally scheduled on 9 February at the UNU Headquarters building in Tokyo, will therefore be postponed until further notice.

Lecture by His Excellency Mr. Felipe Calderon Hinojosa, President of Mexico
On the occasion of the 16th U Thant Distinguished Lecture, His Excellency Mr. Felipe Calderon Hinojosa,
Photo by World Economic Forum President of Mexico will talk about his vision to reach a fair agreement on climate change favorable to all nations, and the opportunity that the COP16, which Mexico will host by the end of 2010, offers in that direction. President Calderon is one of the most committed leaders in promoting international cooperation to deal with climate change. Clearly, this issue is one of his foreign policy priorities.
The lecture will be held on Tuesday, 2 February 2010, at 10:15 hours in the U Thant International Conference Hall at the United Nations University Headquarters; Simultaneous Spanish-Japanese-English interpretation will be provided.
