Resolution of the 46th Board of Directors and Council

(Purpose)

Article 1: The purpose of these bylaws is to stipulate matters with respect to supporting members of the Japan Foundation for United Nations University (“the Foundation” hereinafter) pursuant to Article 32 of the Japan Foundation for United Nations University Contribution Bylaws.

(Supporting members of UNU)

Article 2: Supporting members of UNU provide financial contributions for the operations of the Foundation. There are three categories:
(1) Student Member: Students enrolled in schools
(2) Individual Member: Individuals other than student members
(3) Corporate Member: Companies and other organizations

(Application)

Article 3: Article 3 To join Supporting Members of UNU, one must submit an application to the Foundation, receive the approval of the Executive Director and pay a membership fee. Members shall be issued a membership card that is valid for a year and however many days are left in the month of issue.

(Annual dues)

Article 4: Annual dues are shown below depending on the membership category:
(1) Student Member Per membership per year 5,000 yen; at least 1 membership
(2) Individual Member Per membership per year 10,000 yen; at least 1 membership
(3) Corporate Member Per membership per year 100,000 yen; at least 1 membership

(Payment of annual dues)

Article 5: To renew membership, annual dues must be paid by the expiration date stated on the membership card.

(Renewal)

Article 6: Membership status shall be automatically renewed at the beginning of each fiscal year unless the member (or representative for Corporate Member) expresses the intent to withdraw.

(Loss of membership status)

Article 7: Supporting members of UNU may lose their membership status for any of the following reasons.
(1) The member (or representative for Corporate Member) has expressed the intent to withdraw
(2) The member is 1 month in arrears on payment of annual dues and fails to respond when notified by the Secretariat
(3) Other cases in which the member is deemed unsuitable for membership in the Foundation

(Benefits)

Article 9: Supporting members of UNU enjoy the following benefits under an agreement between the Foundation and United Nations University:
(1) Opportunities to visit, tour and exchange opinions etc. with United Nations University Research and Training Centres/Programmes
(2) Provision of United Nations University periodicals
(3) Discount purchases of United Nations University publications (4) Lending of books by United Nations University Library
(5) For Corporate Members, use of meeting rooms at UNU Centre (6) For Corporate Members, listing of organization name on the Japan Foundation for United Nations University web site
(7) For Corporate Members that are educational foundations operating universities, priority participation in Global Seminars organized by United Nations University (8) Other benefits as approved by the Foundation

Addenda（12 December 2006）: 1) These bylaws shall take effect on 27 December 2006. Notwithstanding, Article 4 shall take effect beginning FY2007.
2) The “Japan Foundation for United Nations University Supporting members Association Bylaws” (formulated November 17, 1999) shall be abolished on 27 December 2006.
Addenda（19 March 2008）: These bylaws shall take effect on 19 March 2008.
