UNU CDC Alumni Association Charter

1. Background
For the last two decades, United Nations University (UNU) has practiced UNU Capacity Development Courses to tackle urgent problems of the international society, and to foster practicians and specialists, targeting world youth. Especially, the courses provided in the UNU headquarters in Tokyo and UNU-IAS in Yokohama have a long history, and more than 1,000 people have participated in the courses. Today, many of them are taking an active part in UN and other international organizations, NGOs, and research institutes, making tremendous efforts to solve global issues.
Unfortunately, however, they are currently so disconnected that they have few chances to share important information, exchange their views, and they do not have any substantial access to information provided by UNU, once they finished their courses. Many alumni are concerned about this situation and wish they had an alumni association.
2. Objectives
To change the situation above, we should get the most out of our human resources and its network by setting up the alumni group called “UNU Capacity Development Course Alumni Association”, and by implementing the following activities, the Alumni Association aims to contribute to the United Nations University.
(1) share mutual information among alumni,
(2) make alumni and UNU stay connected, and
(3) contribute to alumni’s future activities.
