Hello all UNU friends and colleagues in Japan,
This is wishing you all the best at this trying moment of natural disaster in Japan.
The rememberance of the kindness of an average Japanese during my short stay in Tokyo makes the ruins of the disaster most painful to me. I want to hope that though the disaster raged but that you all, including your loved ones were spared.
Kindly accept my personal and country's deepest sympathy.
Our best and singular hope is that the effects of the disaster will soon become a thing of the past.

We sympathize and saddened by the continued effect of the earthquake and tsunami in the North Eastern part of Japan. I too have one host family in Ibaraki prefecture, I ask one my friends to contact him by landline and cellphone but still, communication was not successful.

I would like to express my condoleance and sympathy to all Japanese and non-japanese affected people.
Sendai is the city where I did my PhD (2005-2009) at Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine. I also worked there in 2010 before moving to my new position at UNU- International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
...What happened there is just terrible and could feel the pain as if I was there...
During my PhD study at Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine, I was coordinating a 16 month project on " Earthquake preparedness for foreign Residents in Sendai" just after the Miyagi Earthquake in August 2006. Again, If UNU or UNU-cdca is planning to provide any humanitarian support for the victims of the earthquake, I will be pleased to participate.
All my prayers for you. May GOD bless the soul of the deads and protect the survivors.
Japan will raise and shine again. For sure, I strongly believe.

仙台は私が東北大学医学部大学院の博士課程を修了した街です。そして、マレーシアのクアラルンプールにあるＵＮＵ-ＩＩＧＨでの新しい仕事につくまで、2010年に私が仕事をしていた地でもあります。この度の出来事はただただ凄まじく、まるで私がその地で実際に災害にあったような痛みを感じます。東北大学医学部博士課程で勉強中に、私は、2006年8月に起こった宮城沖地震直後の「仙台在中外国人のための地震の心得」についての16ヶ月プロジェクトの調整役をしておりました。もし、ＵＮＵやＵＮＵ?ＣＤＣＡが地震の被害者のための人道支援をもう一度提供する計画があれば、私は是非参加したいと思います。

My deepest condolence for the sudden and shocking earthquake and tsunami as well as the Nuclear Plants problems as consecuence of the these first two big natural disasters.
We faced last year, February, the same problems, earthquake and trsunami and we know what it is and how it strikes our lives and the lives of many persons.
I still remember a word learnes before going to UNU, during my studies in Chile about the philosophy of Japan, "kime", and I am sure that courage and strength will be all yours and your fellow connationals after this natural disaster.
I am happy to know that some of my good friends from Japan are in good health but I have read the many stories about people there. It has been my honour and my pleasure to see and visit Japan.

It was a shocking news of disaster that hit the North East Japan and the hearts of the people across the globe. Japanese people and the Government always faced catastrophes well but this time the might of the calamity to cause disaster was beyond their level of preparedness. At this hour I pray for the safety of the Victims and survivors, and offer my heartfelt condolences to the members of the families who lost their beloveds. May the departed souls find a safe passage to eternity to rest there in peace for ever.
May the Japanese people and the government get the courage of the earthquake and the tsunami to rebuild a safer Japan.
